Affiliate Hosting Checklist

There is no doubt Lunarpages provides one of the industry’s leading affiliate programs out there today. However, when using your affiliate program information to help your web site visitors, friends, and family members sign up for Lunarpages, there are a few things you might want to double check, to make sure they are off your affiliate checklist so we can pay you up to $65 per person you bring to us.
Keep Your Information Up to Date
It is very important to make sure you keep your personal information, such as your name, postal address, phone number and more up to date in our affiliate program. You can easily go double check that information anytime by logging into our affiliate account system, and then clicking on the tab labeled, “Update Your Info”. By doing so, you can help us make sure you get your payments sent to your address.
Send in Your Tax Form Documentation
Once you sign up for the Lunarpages affiliate plan, you will need to send us the needed tax documentation before we can send payment to you.
Every account you refer needs to remain active for more than 30 days, during our money back guarantee period. We (and the IRS!) also require that a W-9 (US affiliates) or W8-BEN (international affiliates) tax form be submitted before we can send your payments. Feel free to contact us at affiliate@lunarpages.com or submit a ticket to the help desk if you need assistance in getting your tax form sent out way.
Learn to Target Your Audience Directly to the Plan They Want
After working with hundreds of affiliates, there is one thing I have learned. Directing potential web hosting clients to a specific web hosting plan page, rather than just lunarpages.com itself leads to more successful referrals. For example, rather than using just:
http://www.lunarpages.com/id/affiliateusername
In your banner or text link advertisements, try using:
http://www.lunarpages.com/id/affiliateusername/goto/basic-hosting/
This would direct the potential web hosting referral to the Basic hosting plan’s page, where more information about that specific hosting plan is given. To track the success rate of each affiliate banner ad or text link, you could also setup a campaign to track the click through and sign up rate and any one specific affiliate link.

How to Add a Badge and Earn Some Cash!

Since we are in the holiday season, I figured I would share with you a way you can earn back some of the money you are going to spend on Christmas presents this year. For anybody who is a member of our affiliate program, you can get paid $65 for every new clients you bring to us. The most popular way to refer people to Lunarpages is by placing a banner on your own web sites.
So how can you add one of the spiffy Lunarpages banners to your own design?
First, you will want to visit our banners web page. You can use our basic banners, which will get the job done. You can also select from a slew of others though, that are even more targeted.

Once you have picked the type of banner you want to use, enter your affiliate user name into the empty text box:
Next, click the banner you wish to embed on your own web site. You will be taken to a page now with the code you need to embed the banner on your own web site:
The last step would be to copy and paste it wherever you want it to show up in your web site.
What About a Simple Text Link Back to Lunarpages.com?
You could also setup a text link back to Lunarpages, using your affiliate user name. You would simply just need to use the code:

You can change “Get Your Hosting at Lunarpages!” to whatever you want the link to say, and also be sure to change “affiliateusername” to your own affiliate user name for your affiliate plan account. Now when somebody clicks through that link, and they sign up for an eligible web hosting plan, you will get a commission for leading them to Lunarpages for their web hosting needs.

7 Extra Service Ideas for Web Hosts

Who doesn’t want to give customers the ability to register a domain and buy the hosting in one place? By doing so, you keep you customers from looking elsewhere for one of the most important add-ons you could branch out into.
Backup Hosting – Many web hosts move into backup hosting too. You could provide off site personal backup as a secondary service, or you could offer a subscription based service for the customer’s web site backup and the process of restoring that backup.
SEO or Marketing Services – When it comes to selling search engine optimization or any sort of marking packages, make sure you have the support team to back you up. This sort of service has a bad reputation, because many people see it as selling snake oil. It is a tricky one to show real results from, so if you do move into the SEO and marketing business, just make sure you provide your customers with the goods.
Gift Cards – Providing gift cards can be an excellent way to make yourself look more compassionate about the customer’s needs. It might not make loads of money, but providing a way to give your services as a present is never a bad thing. It could help out beginning web hosting gurus, and help young webmasters in getting their first works on the Web.
Affiliate Programs – Why sell your web hosting plans yourself when you can get somebody else to do it for you? By giving people a “finder’s fee” when they bring you a new customer, you give your community a reward, just for sharing their opinion. Now it might be hard to lure affiliate professionals, when some companies pay 95% of their profit to affiliates, but start out low and work your way up.
Web Site Design – Like domain name registration, offering a web site design service or an internally built WYSIWYG editor is another nice extra service to add. It is one of those web hosting necessities that everybody needs, and not everybody has the time to do themselves.
Other Flavors of Web Hosting – When it comes to adding extra services, do not just look at things outside web hosting. You could offer more web hosting plans. For example, if you only provide shared web hosting right now, you could move into VPS or dedicated web hosting services. You could even make shared hosting plans that are a little cheaper (with less extras) or a shared hosting plan that is a little more expensive (with more extras).
There are many ways a web hosting company can diversify. The important thing to remember is to keep your quality of the service as high as possible for each new service you provide. I have seen web hosts launch a new product, then forget about it the next month, too many times. Make sure you give yourself ample time to build up each new service you decide to provide.
