Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

FileZilla TutorialNew to FileZilla? Today, I have for you a tutorial to help get started using it. This fantastic FTP program might be my favorite FTP client – mainly because it is so simple to use.

Hope you enjoyed that tutorial and let me know in the comments if you would like to see more!

Wrestling with HostingCon 2010

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

HostingCon 2010 Now that HostingCon 2010 is said and done, we are starting to see what innovative ideas and hot topical discussions were had at this place where the brightest and best minds of the web hosting industry have come to gather.  Unfortunately nobody has uploaded videos of that, so instead I give you professional wrestling!

Not sure who these indy wrestling stars are, so if you know – please drop in a mention via the comments.

Yeah, I am a little offended nobody asked the web hosting industry’s media rock star to do the play by play of the action – but it does look like it was a lot of fun.

Instant Screencasts for Twitter and Beyond

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

image

Twitter makes for a pretty nice way for a web host to get it’s message out to their customers quickly.  You can send a message to everybody that is following you, or you could answer just one person, if needed.  Screenr is the way to get that job done.  You can instantly record a screencast, all with web based software – and share it anywhere.

Quick and Easy Screencast Creator

The thing that makes Screenr so twitter-tastic is that it gives you the ability to login with your Twitter account, and instantly tweet your video tutorial when you are done.  The recorder is powered by Java, so there is no extra tools to have to download either.  Just hit the record button, drag that tool over the space you want to record and your ready to go.

Here is a demo video I created with about five minutes of planning and production time:

As you can see, sometimes you can be helping one person on how to do something – and show many more in exchange.  I am sure there is a metaphor in that statement somewhere having do to with teaching that man how to fish too.  You can try Screenr for free at Screenr.com.  When you do come back and show man what you created.

Create Your Own Video Tutorials

Create Your Own Video Tutorials

For any web host out there, having video tutorials showing off your services is a nice thing to promote to your customers.  It is always better to show somebody how to do something, rather than just have them read text.  If you are looking for a low-cost way to create your own simple tutorial collection, look no further than ScreenToaster.

Once you sign up, you can use it from anywhere at any time.  It captures video on the screen with simply one click.  You can record screencasts, tutorials, demos, training and more.  Then you can turn around and embed them on blogs, web pages, or send them via e-mail.

Here is an example video to check out:

It really is a fantastic and free way to create your own video tutorials.  To give it a shot for yourself, or to learn more about how to use it, be sure to check out ScreenToaster.com.

Animated Birth of a Data Center

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Ever wonder what the birth of a data center would look like?  We have no screaming here, and no slaps to the rear end.  Instead, we have what appears to be a digital animated short on how Skanska builds a state of the art data center.

This video is really interesting to watch, and to see what all goes into building a data center from the ground up.

Have any other web hosting business related videos to share?  Be sure to leave them in the comments, or e-mail me at mitch@mitchkeeler.com.  Would love to highlight them right here on WebHostingShow.com.

Cloud Computing Talk on Fox Business

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

It isn’t very often you see hosting personalities being covered in the news. I don’t know why, because they are often some of the most successful out there.  That is why I was happy to find this video of Lanham Napier, Rackspace Hosting’s CEO, talking about how is company is competing with the likes of Google and Amazon.
