Lunar Picks – Your Favorite Sporting Team and Rituals

This topic was chosen thanks to peer pressure from our Customer Service Manager Greg and my husband Jay
Apparently, it’s a great time of year for sports – World Cup, NBA finals, Baseball, Australian State of Origin and more.
So tell us about your ritual when observing this time of year and your favorite sporting team.
Example: Jay’s team is NSW and he puts on his team jersey and buys beer and screams at the TV and then cries when they lose ![]()
Lunar Staff Picks
Casey – I love Dodger baseball!!! I often will even listen to the games over the radio if I am unable to get to a TV or I have a blackberry app if all else fails.
Orlando - fútbol- Manchester United this year go Chicharito! Put on Team Jersey, scream at TV/family members and End with a Carne Asada! (wow so similar to Jay!)
Jonathon – I like the Pittsburgh Steelers. Every game, the whole family puts on their Steelers jerseys (we each have our own favorite player). We all play flag football and the losing team (usually the guys) has to do all the cooking for the day. So the big goal is win, otherwise we can’t watch the game! Of course, with the keg next to the barbeque, it’s not all that bad! Just set up the mini-TV and I’m good!
Greg – NBA: Los Angeles Lakers – purple and gold blood coursing through my veins. Growing up in southern California, this team has been a part of me from the beginning.
MLB: Anaheim Angels – the first baseball game I went to was with my grandfather to see Nolan Ryan pitch. I was around the age of 5, remember exactly where we sat and how my grandfather explained the game to me. The only thing missing is a set of season tickets…and my grandfather too!
Zach – Favorite Sports team is the Chicago White Sox. Ritual is whenever they are on I wear my White Sox gear from the 2005 championship year and scream at the tv when things don’t go well. They usually don’t go well for the White Sox
Roy – I am a sports nut and I like Baseball, Football, Hockey and Basketball. When my team is on, I will wear the teams jersey and have my favorite beverage next to me and just be focused on the game. Win or lose I love the sport of competition.
Katrina – Los Angeles Dodgers. I grew up with them in L.A. and my school gave all honor roll students free tickets to their games every year. Gave me a chance to spend time with my Dad.
Brittany – ANGELS!! I grab my Angels blanket and rally monkey and get ready to watch a good game
Monty - I just sit back and watch Spain doing their best at home.
Chad Reynolds – My favorite team is the Dodgers, but I don’t watch this, or any other ‘Sports’, unless, yes, I am with my Dad or brother – a ‘ritual’ and family affair. My own personal sense of ‘non-boredom’ would definitely be the Discovery Channel, Nat Geo, History, PBS, etc., not ESPN, no screaming on my part
